W Łebnie wspominano Jana Piepkę w rocznicę jego urodzin
Nie był pomnikowym literatem tylko barwnym, kochającym ludzi gawędziarzem – tak wspominano Jana Piepkę. w Łebnie w gminie Szemud obchodzono 95-rocznicę urodzin pisarza.
– Był barwnym gawędziarzem, który umiał trafiać do ludzi – mówi wójt gminy Szemud, Ryszard Kalkowski.
Odprawiono msze świętą w jego intencji i modlono się przy jego grobie. Potem, w Wiejskim Domu Kultury śpiewano i recytowano poezję artysty, oraz dyskutowano o jego twórczości. Jan Piepka był bardzo wszechstronnym pisarzem – tworzył zarówno po polsku jak i po kaszubsku.
Pisał zabawne powiastki i wierszyki dla dzieci, jak i poważne powieści i dramaty dla dorosłych, często ze zgrabnie ukrytą krytyką PRL. Ale jego czytelnicy, przyjaciele i ci którzy mieli okazję go spotkać na jednym z licznych wieczorów autorskich podkreślali, że był przede wszystkim skromnym, kochającym życie i ludzi człowiekiem. Wspomina artystę jego wieloletnia przyjaciółka, Jadwiga Knapińska. Jan Piepka spoczywa na cmentarzu w Łebnie. Część jego rękopisów wciąż czeka w Gminnej Bibliotece w Szemudzie na wydanie.
