Kary dla nietrzeźwych kierowców i piratów drogowych zaostrzone. Prezydent Andrzej Duda podpisał nowelizację ustawy.
Jak podała kancelaria prezydenta zmiany dotyczą kodeksów: karnego, wykroczeń, postępowania karnego i w sprawach o wykroczenia oraz prawa o ruchu drogowym. Przede wszystkim z 9 miesięcy do dwóch lat wydłużono minimalną karę więzienia dla kierowcy, który w stanie nietrzeźwości lub pod wpływem środków odurzających spowoduje wypadek ze skutkiem śmiertelnym lub ciężkim uszkodzeniem ciała. Kara nie będzie mogła być zawieszana. Świadoma ucieczka przed policją nie będzie wykroczeniem a przestępstwem zagrożonym karą od 3 miesięcy do 5 lat więzienia. Wykroczenia w komunikacji mają się przedawniać po trzech latach od chwili popełnienia czynu, a nie – jak obecnie – po dwóch. Sądy orzekające w sprawach o przestępstwa przeciwko bezpieczeństwu w ruchu drogowym, będą musiały zostać poinformowane o wszystkich przestępstwach i wykroczeniach kierowców znajdujących się w centralnej ewidencji kierowców oraz w ewidencji prowadzonej przez policję. Większość nowelizacji wejdzie w życie po upływie 14 dni od dnia ogłoszenia.
