Wzrasta liczba zachorowań na krztusiec
Na Kaszubach, podobnie jak w całej Polsce rośnie liczba zachorowań na krztusiec. Tylko w powiecie kościerskim liczba chorych wzrosła trzykrotnie.
Krztusiec to choroba bakteryjna, a jej pierwsze objawy często mylone są z grypą i przeziębieniem. Charakteryzuje się nawracającymi napadami kaszlu i przedłużającą się dusznością. Nieleczona może doprowadzić do poważnych powikłań, w tym uszkodzeń wzroku, słuchu i tkanki mózgu a także zapalenia płuc i opon mózgowo-rdzeniowych. Dzieci w Polsce poddawane są obowiązkowym szczepieniom przeciwko tej chorobie. Ich działanie utrzymuje się jednak do 7 lat po podaniu. – Co może być powodem licznych zachorowań w grupie dzieci w wieku od 12 do 14 lat – mówi inspektor sanitarny z Kościerzyny Grażyna Greinke. Naukowcy zalecają w tym względzie powtarzanie szczepień co 10 lat. Dodam, że wzrost zachorowań na krztusiec w ostatnich latach odnotowano też w innych krajach Europy oraz w USA.
