Sejmik województwa śląskiego popiera postulat Ślązaków
Sejmik województwa śląskiego za uznaniem Ślązaków za mniejszość etniczną.
Radni województwa śląskiego przyjęli oświadczenie dotyczące poparcia dla obywatelskiego projektu ustawy o mniejszościach narodowych i etnicznych, który procedowany jest w Sejmie. – Polska ma charakter regionalny. Siła naszego państwa bierze się z silnych, dbających o swoją tożsamość kulturową, tradycje i rozwój gospodarczy regionów. Pielęgnowanie tej różnorodności nie stanowi w żadnym wypadku zagrożenia dla Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej. Przeciwnie, podkreślanie odmienności kulturowej, językowej, etnicznej obywateli mieszkających w jej granicach jest fundamentem nowoczesnego – opartego na szacunku i tolerancji – społeczeństwa obywatelskiego – czytamy w oświadczeniu śląskich radnych. Projekt zmiany ustawy o mniejszościach narodowych i etnicznych jest projektem obywatelskim. W 2014 roku poparło go 140 tys. osób. Przewiduje dopisanie mniejszości śląskiej do obecnej listy mniejszości narodowych i etnicznych.
Przypomnijmy, że na mocy tej samej ustawy ochroną prawną objęty jest język kaszubski. Ponieważ jednak gwarancje prawne Rzeczpospolitej Polskiej nie obejmują narodu kaszubskiego, Stowarzyszenie Kaszëbskô Jednota wystąpiło z podobnym do Ślązaków postulatem o uznanie Kaszubów za mniejszość etniczną: – po to – jak czytamy w dokumentach Kaszëbsczi Jednotë – by Kaszubów nie tylko łączyło wspólne pochodzenie i więzy krwi, ale też więzy prawa.
