Pomorskie europejskim liderem wzrostu zatrudnienia. Na przestrzeni ostatniej dekady odnotowano tu najwyższą dynamikę wzrostu liczby osób pracujących spośród wszystkich regionów Unii Europejskiej – wynika z najnowszych danych Eurostatu, opublikowanych na stronie samorządu naszego województwa.
Na przestrzeni lat 2006-15 liczba pracujących w wieku 15 lat i więcej wzrosła w Pomorskiem o ponad 45 procent z 685 tys. do poziomu 995 tys. To najwyższy względny wzrost liczby pracujących odnotowany w regionach Unii Europejskiej. Zaraz za województwem pomorskim uplasowały się: szkocki region Highlands and Islands, Luxemburg, województwo mazowieckie oraz Malta.
Dla porównania 45 procent w pomorskie w ostatniej dekadzie przeciętny wzrost w skali całej Unii Europejskiej wyniósł niecałe 2 procent , a w Polsce 10 procent. Na sukces naszego regionu znaczący wpływ miały w szczególności sprzyjające trendy demograficzne – przyrost ludności w wieku 15 lat i więcej o 30 procent, a także rozwój potencjału gospodarczego pomorskich przedsiębiorstw oraz udane inwestycje władz regionalnych i samorządów lokalnych – m. in. w rozwój infrastruktury i kapitału ludzkiego. Nie bez znaczenia jest także wysoka aktywność Pomorzan.
