Nowe elektryczne pociągi pojadą z Trójmiasta do Słupska i Elbląga
Urząd Marszałkowski ogłosił przetarg na wykonanie i dostawę pięciu elektrycznych składów.
W przyszłości będą kursować na zelektryfikowanej linii Pomorskiej Kolei Metropolitalnej. Po rozwieszeniu sieci trakcyjnej elektryczne pociągi połączą Gdańsk z Gdynią i Kartuzami. Dojadą też do Kościerzyny. Dwa pierwsze składy wyjadą na tory jeszcze w 2018 roku. Planowany jest zakup pięciu pociągów, jednak urzędnicy zastrzegają, że zamówienie może być zwiększone do 10 pociągów.Mają być wygodne, szybkie i nowoczesne. Rozpędzą się do 160 km/hi przewiozą co najmniej 20 rowerów i prawie 200 pasażerów na miejscach siedzących. W każdym pociągu będzie mobilny defibrylator, klimatyzacja i bezprzewodowy internet. 10 pociągów ma kosztować około 205 mln zł. Inwestycja zostanie dofinansowana z Regionalnego Programu Operacyjnego Województwa Pomorskiego na lata 2014-2020. Wartość unijnej dopłaty to 85 proc.
