Mieczysław Struk ponownie marszałkiem województwa pomorskiego. Był jedynym kandydatem. W tajnym głosowaniu poparło go 24 radnych, 9 radnych wstrzymało się od głosu. W listopadowych wyborach do 33 osobowego sejmiku wygrała Platforma Obywatelska, uzyskując 17 mandatów. Koalicję utworzyła z PSL, który do sejmiku wprowadził 7 radnych. W opozycji jest Prawo i Sprawiedliwość z 9-cioma mandatami. Mieczysław Struk marszałkiem został po raz drugi. Przez 12 lat był burmistrzem Jastarni. W samorządzie województwa zasiada od początku jego powstania w 1998 roku, a od 2005 roku był członkiem zarządu. Za dotychczasową działalność został wyróżniony nagrodą im. Grzegorza Palki, tzw. samorządowym Oscarem. Omawiając swoje plany na najbliższą kadencję Struk podkreślił, że określone one są szczegółowo w strategii dla województwa do roku 2020 r. Wśród zadań na najbliższe cztery lata Struk wymienił m.in. usprawnianie transportu drogowego i kolejowego w Pomorskiem oraz poprawę konkurencyjności regionalnej gospodarki. Wskazał też na potrzebę rozwoju opieki przedszkolnej oraz powstawanie centrów kształcenia zawodowego. Podczas sesji sejmiku wybrano też wicemarszałków: Wiesława Byczkowskiego i Krzysztofa Trawickiego. Członkami zarządu będą Hanna Zych-Cisoń i Ryszard Świlski.
