Mamy obowiązek odśnieżać chodniki i posypywać je piaskiem – przypomina Straż Miejska z Wejherowa.
Nakłada go na właścicieli i zarządców nieruchomości ustawa o utrzymaniu i czystości w gminach. Za chodnik uznaje się wydzieloną część drogi publicznej służącą do ruchu pieszego, położoną bezpośrednio przy granicy nieruchomości. Nie ma więc znaczenia, czy teren z chodnikiem należy do nas czy też nie. Mamy obowiązek utrzymywać go w czystości, a w zimie sprzątać śnieg i błoto. Właściciel nieruchomości nie usuwa natomiast śniegu z chodnika, na którym gmina pobiera opłaty za parkowanie. Nie musi też śniegu wywozić, obowiązek ten spoczywa na zarządcy drogi. Jeżeli chodnik jest nieodśnieżony, a pieszy poślizgnie się na nim i np. złamie nogę, ma prawo domagać się od właściciela nieruchomości odszkodowania i zadośćuczynienia: za utracone zarobki, koszty leczenia, czy przedmioty zniszczone w wyniku upadku. Za nieodśnieżony chodnik może być nałożony mandat karny w kwocie stu złotych.
Wejherowscy strażnicy miejscy przypominają także o usuwaniu sopli z dachów.
