Ogólnodostępny EkoPark powstaje na terenie Bałtyckiego Kampusu Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego. Na cele naukowe i edukacyjne zagospodarowany będzie plac w sąsiedztwie Wydziałów Biologii i Chemii.
Znikną obce gatunki inwazyjne, posadzone zostaną gatunki rodzime. Powstanie zbiornik wodny, zamontowane zostaną ławki, wytyczone alejki, do tego stoliki do gry w szachy, boiska do gry w boule i tablice edukacyjne. Wykonana zostanie też aplikacja na urządzenia mobilne do indywidualnego zwiedzania EkoParku. Ułatwić ma to również ekspozycja roślin rzadkich i zagrożonych gatunków z województwa pomorskiego. Będą tu prowadzone zajęcia praktyczne dla studentów i doktorantów, jak i kształcące zabawy dla dzieci.
EkoPark ma powstać do końca tego roku. Władze Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego szacują, że rocznie będzie go odwiedzać 7 tysięcy osób. Koszt to ponad 3 mln zł, większość pokryje dotacja z pomorskiego Regionalnego Programu Operacyjnego. 660 tys zł dołożył też Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej w Gdańsku, który jest partnerem projektu.
