Diecezja pelplińska w czołówce z największą liczbą powołań
Diecezja pelplińska w czołówce regionów z największą liczbą powołań kapłańskich w Polsce. Na jednego kleryka przypada tutaj 7 tys. 700 wiernych. Trzykrotnie więcej jest między innymi w diecezjach łódzkiej, łowickiej i bydgoskiej.
– W Polsce na 44 diecezje najwięcej jest ich w tarnowskiej, katowickiej, warszawskiej, krakowskiej i pelplińskiej – mówi nam ksiądz biskup Wiesław Śmigel z Pelplina.
W całej Polsce od kilkunastu lat spada liczba powołań. Jeszcze w 2007 roku w seminariach łącznie kształciło się ponad 4 tysiące kleryków, a w obecnym roku było ich już o 1/3 mniej. Kościół jako przyczyny spadku podaje między innymi kryzys rodziny, zagubienie moralne i religijne młodzieży oraz niż demograficzny. Mimo to klerycy z Polski wciąż stanowią około 25 proc. wszystkich kleryków Europy. Księża na emeryturę odchodzą w wieku 75 lat. W tym roku z tego prawa skorzystało 7 kapłanów.
