Nagrody Rejs Roku 2016 przyznane
Samotni żeglarze na niewielkich łódkach zdominowali podium minionego sezonu – po raz 47 przyznano najwyższe polskie trofea żeglarskie. „Srebrnym Sekstantem” i Nagrodą Honorową „Rejs Roku 2016” jury jednogłośnie zdecydowało uhonorować kpt. Szymona Kuczyńskiego, który w ramach ambitnego projektu „Maxus Solo Around” opłynął samotnie świat na niewielkim jachcie „Atlantic Puffin”.
Rejs był zwieńczeniem jego działań w ostatnich latach. Oceaniczne regaty i obecna wokółziemska wyprawa Szymona Kuczyńskiego miały dokumentować, że bez wielkich nakładów finansowych, na niewielkim jachcie można podejmować i bezpiecznie realizować nawet najtrudniejsze żeglarskie wyzwania. Drugą Nagrodę Honorową „Rejs Roku 2016” przyznano Aleksandrowi Hanuszowi za transatlantycką, samotną wyprawę samodzielnie zbudowanym, mieczowym otwarto-pokładowym jachtem o długości sześciu i pół metra. Trzecią Nagrodę Honorową „Rejs Roku 2016” przyznano kapitanowi Michałowi Palczyńskiemu za trzyletnią wyprawę dookoła świata na jachcie „Crystal” Utworzenie nagrody „Rejs Roku” zainspirował Leonid Teliga, który w 1969 roku zakończył w Casablance swój wielki rejs dookoła świat. Inicjatywę redakcji „Głosu Wybrzeża” poparł ówczesny minister żeglugi i ufundował główną nagrodę – „Srebrny Sekstant”. Wśród uhonorowanych nim przez 47 lat było m.in. 18 wypraw dookoła świata, 14 rejsów polarnych, 11 startów w oceanicznych regatach, a także 3 kobiety i 4 żeglarzy polonijnych na najwyższym podium.
