Po ciężkiej chorobie zmarł arcybiskup Tadeusz Gocłowski, były metropolita gdański. Miał 84 lata.
Arcybiskup senior trafił do szpitala niecałe dwa tygodnie temu z objawami rozległego udaru mózgu. Zmarł wczoraj po południu. Arcybiskup Tadeusz Gocłowski był m.in. członkiem Rady Stałej Episkopatu Polski, współprzewodniczącym Komisji Wspólnej Episkopatu i Rządu oraz w latach 2000 – 2008 duszpasterzem ludzi morza. Miał ogromne zasługi dla Kaszubów. Dzięki jego życzliwości, a także biskupa Mariana Przykuckiego, do Kaszubów zwracał się bezpośrednio Jan Paweł II, przemawiając do nas w 1987. roku w Gdyni i 1999. w Sopocie. Tadeusz Gocłowski dał imprimatur do pierwszego kaszubskiego tłumaczenia ewangelii dokonanego przez ks. Franciszka Gruczę, a w 1993 roku wydał dekret umożliwiający używanie języka kaszubskiego w liturgii słowa podczas mszy w Kościele Rzymskokatolickim.
23 kwietnia tego roku gdańscy radni zdecydowali o przyznaniu arcybiskupowi honorowego obywatelstwa Gdańska. Jak poinformował gdański magistrat na swojej stronie internetowej, dziś w samo południe w budynku Rady Miasta Gdańska wyłożona zostanie księga kondolencyjna.
