Powiaty gdański, człuchowski, słupski i lęborski wskazały najwięcej miejsc występowania barszczu Sosnowskiego. Największe skupiska tej niebezpiecznej dla ludzi rośliny naniesiono na mapę opublikowaną właśnie na stronach internetowych Pomorskiego Urzędu Wojewódzkiego.
Opracowano ją na podstawie informacji przesyłanych do wojewody z poszczególnych powiatów. Urzędnicy pozostają w kontakcie z samorządami, na terenie których skala problemu jest największa. Zachęcają też do zapoznania się z mapą i zachowania szczególnej ostrożności podczas plenerowych wycieczek w oznaczone okolice. Barszcz Sosnowskiego jest chwastem, gatunkiem inwazyjnym sprowadzonym w czasach PRLu z ZSRR jako roślina uprawna. Jest jednak niebezpieczny dla ludzi, łatwo się nim poparzyć nawet przez ubranie, a rany trudno się goją. Kontakt z Barszczem Sosnowskiego zakończy się w najlepszym wypadku wysypką, w najgorszym oparzeniem trzeciego stopnia.
