Korsykańscy autonomiści wygrali w wyborach we Francji
Większość międzynarodowych komentatorów skupiło się na wynikach największych partii: Republikanów, Socjalistów, czy Frontu Narodowego.
Tymczasem wybory te powinny przejść do historii z powodu zwycięstwa korsykańskich autonomistów. Korsyka to wyspa na Morzu Śródziemnym i jednocześnie – formalnie – położony najdalej na południe region Francji kontynentalnej. Korsyka znajduje się w odległości 83 km od wybrzeży Włoch, 170 km od Francji oraz 450 km od Hiszpanii. Ugrupowania Dla Korsyki uzyskało w tych wyborach ponad 35 proc. poparcia i większość mandatów w regionalnej radzie, która ma znaczne kompetencje w dziedzinie finansowania działań lokalnych; decyduje na przykład o budowie i utrzymaniu publicznych szkół średnich, organizacji transportu regionalnego, czy zagospodarowaniu przestrzennym. Obywatele Francji wybierali władze 13 regionów we Francji kontynentalnej. Po uchwalonej pod koniec 2014 reformie regionalnej nowo utworzone regiony – dawniej były 22 – mają zacząć funkcjonować z początkiem 2016 roku.
