Prezydent Gdyni Wojciech Szczurek „Samorządowcem Roku 2015″
Pismo Samorządu Terytorialnego „Wspólnota” ogłosiło prezydenta Gdyni Wojciecha Szczurka „Samorządowcem Roku 2015″. Jak czytamy w uzasadnieniu, doceniono między innymi silne przeciwstawienie polityki lokalnej, polityce ogólnopolskiej.
„Wspólnota” zauważyła także stanowcze działania Gdyni w sporze z Komisją Europejską i skuteczne zabieganie o rządowe wsparcie skargi miasta na decyzję w sprawie lotniska Gdynia Kosakowo. Ze słowami uznania spotkało instytucjonalne wsparcie przedsiębiorców, w tym budowa Pomorskiego Parku Naukowo-Technologicznego Gdynia, innowacje społeczne czy też inwestycje w kulturę, jak budowa Muzeum Emigracji i Gdyńskiego Centrum Filmowego.
Kapituła przypomina też o prężnie działającym Metropolitalnym Forum Wójtów, Burmistrzów, Prezydentów i Starostów „Norda”, któremu przewodniczy Wojciech Szczurek. Ponadto, prezydent Gdyni od 2003 roku pełni funkcję prezesa Stowarzyszenia Miast Autostrady Bursztynowej, które z sukcesem lobbowało na rzecz budowy autostrady A1.
