Wieloryb pojawił się w gdyńskim porcie
Wieloryb w gdyńskim porcie. Walenia zaobserwowali w piątek marynarze z fregaty ORP Kościuszko. O zgłaszanie wszelkich obserwacji tego morskiego ssaka apeluje organizacja ekologiczna WWF Polska.
Dzięki materiałowi filmowemu i zdjęciowemu z Gdyni ustalono, że jest to mały wieloryb. Nie wiadomo jednak do jakiego gatunku należy. W Bałtyku czyha na niego sporo zagrożeń, łącznie z kolizją ze statkiem – to jedno z najbardziej zatłoczonych mórz świata. Naukowcy i ekolodzy apelują do wszystkich, którzy zaobserwują wieloryba, o natychmiastowe informowanie Stacji Morskiej Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego w Helu lub Błękitnego Patrolu WWF.
Wizyty dużych waleni w Bałtyku zdarzają się co jakiś czas. W ubiegłym roku wolontariusze Błękitnego Patrolu WWF przyjęli zgłoszenie o martwym waleniu w pobliżu plaży w Stegnie. Na miejscu okazało się, że był to 23-tonowy martwy finwal.
