W Wejherowie zlikwidowano 94 piece i paleniska
W centrum Wejherowa będzie czystsze powietrze. Zlikwidowano tam 94 piece i paleniska węglowe, 10 budynków wielorodzinnych podłączono do miejskiej sieci ciepłowniczej lub gazowej.
To wynik zakończonego właśnie projektu „Likwidacja niskiej emisji w Śródmieściu miasta” wartego w sumie ponad 770 tysięcy złotych. Wojewódzki Fundusz Ochrony Środowiska i Gospodarki Wodnej w Gdańsku udzielił dofinansowania na realizację tej inwestycji w formie pożyczki oraz dotacji. W efekcie o 10 ton rocznie zmniejszyła się emisja pyłów do atmosfery, 1 tys. ton dwutlenku węgla i 4 kg rakotwórczego benzo-a-pirenu. Przeprowadzono także kampanie edukacyjne ukazujące korzyści zdrowotne i społeczne wynikające z eliminacji niskiej emisji. Akcje te miały uświadomić mieszkańcom zagrożenia wynikające ze spalania odpadów w kotłach grzewczych oraz na otwartych przestrzeniach. Piece węglowe w śródmieściu zlikwidowano w ramach prowadzonego w Wejherowie od lat programu przebudowy systemów grzewczych na proekologiczne.
