W Gdyni wmurowano kamień węgielny pod pomnik Hilarego Jastaka – kapelana solidarności nazywanego przez wielu Królem Kaszubów. Uroczystość z udziałem arcybiskupa, reprezentacji Zrzeszenia Kaszubsko-Pomorskiego i władz miasta odbyła się na zbiegu ulic Stefana Batorego i Władysława IV. Urodzony w 1914 roku kapłan pochodził z Kościerzyny. Dorosłe życie spędził w Gdyni gdzie zasłynął między innymi jako pierwszy ksiądz, który odprawił mszę w zakładzie pracy podczas strajku. – Był szykanowany przez hitlerowców, potem w okresie stalinowskim i w komunie, nigdy nie porzucił swoich przekonań – do których należało również silne poczucie kaszubskości -mówili członkowie gdyńskiego oddziału ZKP. Hilary Jastak był założycielem Fundacji Pomocy Stypendialnej dla kaszubskiej młodzieży. Jego działalność nie ograniczała się tylko do Kaszub, odwiedzał też Śląsk. Rok 2014 przez gdyńskich radnych został ogłoszony rokiem księdza Jastaka, pomnik legendarnego kapłana ma stanąć w Gdyni w czerwcu.
