W Cewicach mogą być podwójne nazwy miejscowości
Cewice mogą stać się pierwszą gminą w powiecie lęborskim z podwójnymi nazwami miejscowości w języku polskim i kaszubskim. Wniosek do Rady Gminy w tej sprawie złożyli przedstawiciele miejscowego Zrzeszenia Kaszubsko – Pomorskiego, stowarzyszenia „Rozwój Bukowiny” oraz stowarzyszenia „Rozwój Sołectwa Popowo”. Cewice to najbardziej kaszubska gmina w powiecie lęborskim. Z danych ostatniego Spisu Powszechnego wynika, że językiem kaszubskim posługuje się tu ponad 10% mieszkańców. Do tego prawie 500 dzieci uczy się tego języka w szkole. Aby stanęły tu polsko-kaszubskie tablice z nazwami miejscowości – odpowiednie uchwały przyjąć musi Rada Gminy. Ostateczną decyzję podejmą jednak mieszkańcy w konsultacjach społecznych. Pomoc w ich przeprowadzeniu już zadeklarowali inicjatorzy akcji – członkowie Zrzeszenia oraz stowarzyszeń z Bukowiny i Popowa. Według ich wyliczeń w gminie Cewice mogłoby stanąć około 50 tablic. Koszty ich wymiany – zgodnie z ustawą – pokryłby budżet państwa. Wnioskiem cewickich organizacji zajmie się teraz Rada Gminy.
