W centrum Wejherowa ma stanąć pomnik Remusa
W centrum Wejherowa ma stanąć pomnik Remusa – dla kultywowania tradycji kaszubskiej. Pomysł krytykuje część opozycyjnych radnych – uznając go za zbyt kosztowny – obelisk ma być warty blisko 200 tysięcy złotych. Podobny pomnik stoi już od kilku lat w Kościerzynie. Remus to postać literacka, główny bohater powieści Aleksandra Majkowskiego, który jest synonimem ocalania języka kaszubskiego od zaginięcia. Podobny cel przyświeca władzom Wejherowa. Jak mówi wiceprezydent Bochiński – stawiając pomnik nie chcemy dać zapomnieć o mowie kaszubskiej. Na „swoiste” kultywowanie języka kaszubskiego władze Wejherowa wydały już sporo pieniędzy tworząc szlak Alfabetu Kaszubskiego czyli kamiennych słupów z tekstem „To je krótczi, to je dłudżi”. Oba pomysły krytykuje miejska opozycja. Ich zdaniem więcej środków powinno pójść na naukę języka w szkołach niż na kolejne pomniki. Zdaniem radnego Jacka Gafki pomnik Remusa jest za drogi, a do tego radni dowiedzieli się o nim z mediów. Dodajmy, że pomnik Remusa w Wejherowie ma kosztować dokładnie 178 tysięcy złotych. Ma być wykonany z brązu, mierzyć 180 cm i ma posiadać taczkę wypełnioną książkami przy której siedzą dwie postacie dzieci. Pomnik ma pojawić się na rynku jeszcze w tym roku.
