Świętowali Światowy Dzień Ziemi
„Nie zatruwaj”, „Chcemy mieć czyste powietrze” – z takimi okrzykami młodzież i dzieci szkół podstawowych przemaszerowały ulicami Kościerzyny. Akcja odbyła się w ramach Światowego Dnia Ziemi.
Wzięło w niej udział ponad pół tysiąca uczestników, którzy w tym roku chcieli zwrócić uwagę na problem niskiej emisji. To głównie dymy z pieców i kotłowni w domach jednorodzinnych, gdzie często pali się opałem o niskiej jakości. Są one przyczyną zanieczyszczenia powietrza pyłem zawieszonym i rakotwórczym benzoapirenem. Po marszu młodzież mogła wziąć udział w konkursach ekologicznych i zapoznać się z zasadami segregowania śmieci, instalacji odnawialnych źródeł energii i dbania o przyrodę.
Obchody Światowego Dnia Ziemi w Kościerzynie już po raz 24 zorganizowała Liga Ochrony Przyrody we współpracy z miejscowymi samorządami.
