Powiat bytowski wzorem dla innych samorządów pod względem nauki języka kaszubskiego w szkołach średnich. Władze już drugi rok z rzędu wypłacają najlepszym uczniom stypendia, na które przeznaczają pół miliona złotych. Pieniądze mają dodatkowo motywować młodych ludzi do nauki rodnej mowy. Według statystyk w szkołach ponadgimnazjalnych najtrudniej jest przekonać uczniów do nauki kaszubskiego. Na ponad 18 tysięcy uczniów, jedynie 6% stanowią ci ze szkół średnich. Dlatego w powiecie bytowskim 30 najlepszych uczniów z języka kaszubskiego z każdej szkoły otrzymuje stypendium. To 150 złotych miesięcznie. W całym powiecie kaszubskiego uczy się już ponad 300 osób ze szkół średnich – podsumowuje Dariusz Glazik dyrektor Wydziału Edukacji w starostwie w Bytowie. Na naukę języka kaszubskiego powiat bytowski otrzymuje 2 mln złotych subwencji oświatowej z Ministerstwa Edukacji. Z tego 25% przeznacza na stypendia dla uczniów.
