Stacja Gdynia Chylonia przejdzie metamorfozę, trójmiejska SKM ogłosiła przetarg na wykonanie przebudowy peronu. Część kosztu pokryje miejski samorząd – który zapowiada, że to początek zmian w wyglądzie i funkcjonalności gdyńskich przystanków SKM.
W Chyloni będzie przeszklona wiata, winda, monitoring, informacja pasażerska. Podwyższony i przebudowany zostanie peron by zrównać go z poziomem podłogi w pociągach – co znacznie ułatwi wsiadanie i wysiadanie z wagonów. Przetarg na wykonawcę robót potrwa do 5 września. Prace mają ruszyć wczesną jesienią, potrwają maksymalnie rok. Inwestorem jest spółka PKP SKM w Trójmieście, ale pieniądze na ten cel przeznaczy też miasto Gdynia. W miejskim budżecie na ten rok oraz w prognozie finansowej 2017-2019 na modernizację linii kolejowej nr 250 przewidziano 2 mln zł w każdym roku. Jak informuje gdyński Urząd Miasta po Chyloni modernizację przejdą także przystanki: Orłowo, Redłowo, Gdynia Stocznia, Grabówek i Leszczynki.
Miasto będzie wspierać modernizację peronów do 2022 roku. W planach jest też inwestycja na peronie SKM Gdynia Główna i Dworcu Podmiejskim oraz utworzenie zintegrowanego systemu monitorowania bezpieczeństwa.
