Rozpoczęły się prace projektowe modernizacji dworca w Wejherowie – poinformowała spółka Polskie Koleje Państwowe.
Budynek dworca zmieni swój wygląd po gruntownym remoncie wnętrza, elewacji i dachu. Wymienione zostaną wszystkie instalacje, oraz okna i drzwi. Ze względu na zabytkowy charakter obiektu, wszystkie prace będą konsultowane z konserwatorem. Uporządkowany zostanie też teren przyległy dworca. Modernizacja realizowana jest przy ścisłej współpracy z władzami powiatowymi i miejskimi. Inwestycja wpisuje się w szerszy projekt Wejherowa, według którego w bezpośrednim sąsiedztwie dworca powstanie węzeł integracyjny. Budynek zyska też nowe funkcje, samorządowcy planują wykorzystanie części pomieszczeń na cele Muzeum Piśmiennictwa i Muzyki Kaszubsko-Pomorskiej. Na cele kulturalne i edukacyjne zagospodarowane zostanie pierwsze piętro i poddasze.
