„Rewitalizacja Dolnego Miasta w Gdańsku” z prestiżową nagrodą
„Rewitalizacja Dolnego Miasta w Gdańsku” z prestiżową, unijną nagrodą. Projekt został zwycięzcą konkursu RegioStars 2016 w kategorii „CityStar – zintegrowane strategie na rzecz rozwoju obszarów miejskich będących w trudnej sytuacji”.
Podczas trwającego Europejskiego Tygodnia Regionów w Brukseli nagrodę odebrali marszałek województwa pomorskiego Mieczysław Struk i prezydent Gdańska Paweł Adamowicz. Celem konkursu, organizowanego od 2008 roku przez Komisję Europejską, jest promowanie wzorcowych rozwiązań w zakresie rozwoju regionalnego oraz wyróżnienie oryginalnych i inspirujących projektów mogących stać się wzorem dla innych regionów. W ramach „Rewitalizacji Dolnego Miasta w Gdańsku” zaadaptowano zabytkowe budynki na siedzibę Centrum Sztuki Współczesnej „Łaźnia” oraz świetlicę dla dzieci i młodzieży. Remontami objęto 31 budynków mieszkalnych, zmodernizowano przestrzeń publiczną w okolicach Łąkowej i Wróblej. Do tego stworzono Klub Seniora, przeprowadzono warsztaty i zajęcia plastyczne, artystyczne, sportowe i edukacyjne dla młodzieży. Były też granty na lokalną inicjatywę obywatelską. Wart ponad 8 mln 200 tysięcy euro projekt dofinansowano z unijnych funduszy na kwotę niemal 5 mln 800. tys euro.
Rewitalizacja to kolejny trójmiejski projekt z nagrodą RegioStars. W 2014 roku Komisja Europejska doceniła „Rozwój proekologicznego transportu publicznego na Obszarze Metropolitarnym Trójmiasta”.
