Rekordowy Maraton Pisania Listów w Obronie Praw Człowieka w Rumi
W Rumi rekordowy był tegoroczny Maraton Pisania Listów w Obronie Praw Człowieka. Mieszkańcy miasta podwoili liczbę z ubiegłego roku. Biblioteka w Rumi po raz piąty zaangażowała się w akcję Amnesty International.
W jej ramach ludzie na całym świecie piszą miliony listów w obronie tych, których prawa są łamane. Ze względu na trwający Rok Praw Kobiet listy można było stanąć w obronie obrończyń praw człowieka, które same potrzebują wsparcia, bo spotykają się z atakami, prześladowaniem i niesprawiedliwością. Z rumskiej biblioteki wysłano w tym roku 200 listów. Jak informuje Stacja Kultura o realnym wpływie Maratonu Pisania Listów na życie ludzi przekonała jego druga edycja w rumskiej placówce. Jedna z bohaterek w wyniku komplikacji urodziła martwe dziecko, po czym została skazana na 30 lat więzienia za „umyślne zabójstwo” i ponad dekadę spędziła w więzieniu. Po zmniejszeniu wyroku wyszła na wolność i przy pomocy prawników próbuje odzyskać dobre imię.
