Tej jesieni ma być gotowa książnica profesora Gerarda Labudy powstająca w Wejherowie. Będzie się mieścić w sąsiedztwie Muzeum Piśmiennictwa i Muzyki Kaszubsko – Pomorskiej.
Inwestycja samorządu powiatu wejherowskiego obejmuje adaptację budynku i budowę nowego obiektu. Termin jej zakończenia przesuwano już kilka razy z uwagi na prace konserwatorskie czy archeologiczne, przeszkadzała też pogoda.
– Czekamy z niecierpliwością, bo potrzeba miejsca na ogromny księgozbiór przekazany przez kaszubskiego naukowca – mówi wejherowska starosta Gabriela Lisius.
Książnica ma łączyć funkcje nowoczesnej biblioteki i czytelni z informacją turystyczną i centrum promocji kultury kaszubskiej. Koszt utworzenia książnicy kształtuje się w tej chwili na poziomie 4 i pół mln zł. Ponad połowę pokryje dofinansowanie pozyskane przez samorząd powiatu wejherowskiego.
