Katarzyna Łaszewska jest matką 5-letniego Nikodema i niespełna 2-letniego Marcela. O chorobie dowiedziała się w lipcu tego roku. „Diagnoza była straszna… Dlatego zwracam się z prośbą do ludzi chcących i mogących mi pomóc” – napisała na swoim facebookowym profilu pani Kasia. Zwraca się także za pośrednictwem Radia Kaszëbë o rejestrowanie się jako potencjalny dawca szpiku. Pani Kasia wciąż nie znalazła dawcy. Rejestracji można dokonać m.in. poprzez stronę fundacji DKMS lub zgłosić się do najbliższego punktu krwiodawstwa.
