„Odszedł od nas wielki Kaszuba i przyjaciel”
W sobotę w Rumi Kaszubi pożegnają Grzegorza Szalewskiego, samorządowca, biznesmena i działacza kaszubskiego. Zmarł w wieku 61 lat, po walce z chorobą nowotworową.
Grzegorz Szalewski był pierwszym starostą wejherowskim. Aktywnie działał w samorządzie miejskim w Rumi, gdzie prowadził też niepubliczny zakład opieki zdrowotnej. Pochodził z Olpucha koło Kościerzyny. W ostatnich latach angażował się w rozwój sanktuarium Matki Bożej Pocieszenia we Wielu. – Odszedł on nas wielki Kaszuba i przyjaciel – mówi proboszcz wielewskiej parafii, ksiądz Jan Flisikowski, który w sobotę wygłosi homilię podczas mszy pogrzebowej w Rumi. Grzegorz Szalewski był pomysłodawcą i pierwszym współorganizatorem Zjazdu Kaszubów, a także fundatorem stypendium dla najlepszych kaszubskich maturzystów. Uroczystości pogrzebowe odbędą się w sobotę w parafii pod wezwaniem Najświętszej Maryi Panny Wspomożenia Wiernych w Rumi o godzinie 11:00.
