Nowe dworce powstaną w Chałupach w gminie Władysławowo oraz w Żelistrzewie koło Pucka. Znalazły się wśród 20 inwestycji, na których umowy podpisały Polskie Koleje Państwowe.
Dotyczą one zaprojektowania i budowy w formule Innowacyjnych Dworców Systemowych. Budynki planowane są w dwóch wielkościach. W mniejszym przewidziana została wydzielona poczekalnia w formie półotwartej, ogrzewanej promiennikami osłony. Taki dworzec ma powstać w Żelistrzewie w gminie Puck. W większym dworcu systemowym będzie klimatyzowana poczekalnia, kasy biletowe oraz wydzielone przestrzenie komercyjne dla punktów handlowo – usługowych. Taki projekt ma być zastosowany w Chałupach na Półwyspie Helskim. Koszt wykonania wszystkich 20 inwestycji w ośmiu województwach to niemal 90 mln zł – z unijnym dofinansowaniem z Programu Operacyjnego Infrastruktura i Środowisko.
Innowacyjne Dworce Systemowe to autorski projekt PKP SA obejmujący budowę nowych, parterowych budynków z zastosowaniem proekologicznych rozwiązań – jak panele fotowoltaiczne czy odzysk wody deszczowej do spłukiwania toalet. IDS-y najczęściej zastępują duże, niefunkcjonalne budynki. To część programu, w którym kolej zmodernizuje bądź wybuduje od podstaw około 200 dworców w całym kraju.
