Nowa Karczma przynajmniej do 2018 roku pozostanie w Związku Gmin Wierzyca – zdecydowali radni na ostatniej sesji rady gminy. Podobną decyzję podjęły sąsiednie samorządy Starej Kiszewy, Przywidza oraz miasta i gminy Kościerzyna.
Związek Gmin Wierzyca odpowiadał za wywóz śmieci z większości starogardzkich i kościerskich gmin. Jednak z powodu trudności finansowych i organizacyjnych Związek opuściło w tym roku 9 samorządów. Zdaniem Andrzeja Pollaka, wójta gminy Nowa Karczma, wyjście ze Związku będzie się wiązało z ogromnymi karami.
Jak mówi wójt Nowej Karczmy po odejściu 9 samorządów Związek musi przeorganizować swoje działania. Decyzje mają zapaść na najbliższym posiedzeniu Zgromadzenia Związku Gmin Wierzyca.
