Nie będzie unijnego zakazu wędzenia dla wędlin przygotowywanych metodą tradycyjną i sprzedawanych w kraju – poinformował resort rolnictwa. Sprawa dotyczy unijnego rozporządzenia które zacznie obowiązywać pierwszego września i które zmniejsza dopuszczalny poziom benzopirenu w 1 kg wędliny z 5 mikrogramów do 2 mikrogramów. Zdaniem Komisji Europejskiej wędzenie stanowi zagrożenie dla konsumentów, bo w jego wyniku w żywności pojawiają się zanieczyszczenia, w tym substancje rakotwórcze. Ministerstwo rolnictwa poinformowało Polską Agencję Prasową, że do nowych przepisów nie będą się musieli dostosowywać producenci wędlin wpisanych na listę wyrobów tradycyjnych, którzy sprzedają swoje produkty w kraju. „Minister Marek Sawicki uzyskał w tej sprawie zapewnienie unijnego komisarza do spraw zdrowia Tonio Borga” – napisano w komunikacie. Resort podkreśla, że aby pomóc producentom w tym zakresie, przygotowany został cykl szkoleń dotyczących wędzenia; będą one przeprowadzane od czerwca do września tego roku. Program zakłada przeszkolenie 800 osób w ramach dwudziestu jednodniowych szkoleń teoretycznych oraz 150 osób w ramach czterech dwudniowych szkoleń z częścią warsztatową.
