W Kościerzynie po raz trzynasty wyróżniono osoby poświęcające się osobom chorym i niepełnosprawnym. Medale imienia Matki Teresy z Kalkuty trafiły do Tadeusza Hamernika z fundacji Kaszubska Nadzieja, zaangażowanego w pomoc chorej żonie Piotra Burka z Szumlesia oraz za działalność charytatywną do długoletniej prezes Zakładów Porcelany „Lubiana” Krystyny Wawrzyniak.
– Medale co roku wręczane są przez kapitułę powołaną przez starostę kościerskiego w ustanowiony przez papieża Jana Pawła II Światowy Dzień Chorego. Trafiają do osób, które swój wolny czas i pieniądze poświęcają dla niesienia pomocy drugiemu człowiekowi – mówiła starosta kościerski Alicja Żurawska.
Mówił biskup pomocniczy diecezji pelplińskiej ksiądz Wiesław Śmigiel. Nagrody wręczono podczas uroczystej gali w hali Sokolnia w Kościerzynie.
