Władze Kościerzyny uhonorowały Medalem Tomasza Rogali najstarszego mieszkańca – pamiętającego czasy II wojny światowej, dzisiaj 96-letniego Wernera Feliksa Rzeźnikowskiego. Wzruszająca uroczystość odbyła się wczoraj w sali im. Szopińskiego w Kościerzynie.
Feliks Rzeźnikowski był członkiem Szarych Szeregów. Za pracę w konspiracji został schwytany przez gestapo i okrutnie torturowany. Trafił do obozu koncentracyjnego Stuthoff, a później szczęśliwie przeżył Marsz Śmierci, czyli ewakuację obozu. Jak wczoraj wspominał – szczęście uśmiechnęło się do niego dopiero po 1989 roku. Mówił dyrektor Muzeum Ziemi Kościerskiej Krzysztof Jażdżewski. Wojenne losy Feliksa Rzeźnikowskiego, jak i ponad 40 innych mieszkańców Kościerzyny opisano w nowej książce pt. „Czas próby i nadziei”. – To ważna książka dokumentująca historię lokalną – podkreślał recenzent profesor Andrzej Gąsiorowski.
Relacje wojenne mieszkańców Kościerzyny zebrali pracownicy kościerskiego Muzeum wraz z młodzieżą szkół licealnych. Książkę „Czas próby i nadziei” można nabyć w Muzeum Ziemi Kościerskiej.
