Liczba bezdomnych w Gdyni to około 600
Liczba osób bezdomnych w Gdyni pozostaje na stałym poziomie – jest ich około 600, jest jednak mniej bezdomnych dzieci.
W ostatni weekend w całym województwie odbyło się 8 badanie socjodemograficzne osób bezdomnych. W Gdyni było koordynowane przez Zespół do spraw Bezdomnych MOPS wspierany przez policję, straż miejską i graniczną, wzięło w nim udział łącznie 50 osób. Dotarły zarówno do osób przebywających w różnego rodzaju placówkach, jak i w pustostanach, ogródkach działkowych i bocznicach kolejowych – by sprawdzić w jakiej są sytuacji i jak im można pomóc. Liczba osób bezdomnych w Gdyni pozostaje na tym samym poziomie, waha się w okolicach 550 – 600-t. Są to osoby coraz starsze, bardzo zależne od sposobów wsparcia. Ci, którzy zdecydują się zgłosić do Zespołu ds. Bezdomnych MOPS, mogą liczyć na kompleksową pomoc m.in.: schronienie, posiłek, zasiłek celowy i porady prawnika. Gdyński system wsparcia oferuje indywidualne programy wyjścia z bezdomności. Obecnie na etapie usamodzielnienia jest około 60 osób. Tyle samo jest też jednak osób pozostających w bezdomności ulicznej – odmawiają w ogóle wsparcia lub korzystają z niego okazjonalnie zmuszeni przez warunki atmosferyczne. Gdynia ma 220 miejsc dla osób bezdomnych, a łącznie z miejscami objętymi umowami MOPS poza Gdynią jest ich 390. Jednak w razie konieczności będą uruchamiane kolejne, tak by pomóc wszystkim potrzebującym – zapewniono w informacji przesłanej przez zespół prasowy Urzędu Miasta.
Mieszkańcy Gdyni mogą zgłaszać obecność osób bezdomnych potrzebujących pomocy do Miejskiego Ośrodka Pomocy Społecznej bądź do Centrum Powiadamiania Ratunkowego, do Straży Miejskiej lub pod numerem 112.
