Lęborskie Dni Jakubowe to największa i najważniejsza impreza kulturalno-rekreacyjno-handlowa, przyciągająca co roku tysiące lęborczan i turystów. W tym roku odbędzie się ona 20-22 lipca.
Jarmark nawiązuje do tradycji średniowiecznych spotkań kupców i rzemieślników, ma też wymiar religijno-duchowy. Wiele z imprez na stałe wpisało się w kalendarz Lęborskich Dni Jakubowych, wciąż też są one wzbogacane o nowe pomysły.
Tegoroczne Święto miasta to także 20 rocznica patronatu św. Jakuba Apostoła nad Lęborkiem. Dekretem z 22 czerwca 1998 roku biskup diecezji pelplińskiej, Jan Bernard Szlaga ustanowił św. Jakuba Ap. patronem Lęborka. Uroczystości z tym związane odbyły się 25 lipca 1998 roku. Od tego czasu Lęborskie Dni Jakubowe stały się Świętem Patrona Miasta Lęborka.
Lęborskie Dni Jakubowe zainauguruje uroczyste posiedzenie Rady Miejskiej w piątek 20 lipca, podczas którego wręczone zostanie Honorowe Wyróżnienie Miasta Lęborka – statuetka „Lęborski Lew” wyłonionemu przez Kapitułę zasłużonemu dla miasta lęborczaninowi.
Na niepowtarzalną jarmarkową atmosferę składają się m.in. kiermasz twórców ludowych, plener malarski, wystawa w wieży kościoła św. Jakuba, tradycyjne kramy z wyrobami rzemieślniczymi, cukrową watą i balonami, konkursy dla dzieci i dorosłych, występy zespołów lokalnych, regionalnych oraz z zagranicy, turniej karciany „Lęborska Baśka”.
Do widowiskowych i atrakcyjnych należą koncerty z cyklu Międzynarodowe Spotkania z Folklorem „Muzyka Regionów” – w tym roku organizowane są już po raz 12-ty. Dużym zainteresowaniem cieszy się od lat wieczorny Spacer z duchami Krzyżaków – wzdłuż lęborskich obwarowań, organizowany przez Lęborskie Bractwo Rycerskie.
Niezmiennie popularny wśród Jakubów jest Międzynarodowy Zlot Jakubów, który w tym roku odbędzie się już po raz dwunasty – w sobotę 21 lipca. Po zarejestrowaniu w Kwaterze Głównej Zlotu (na Placu Pokoju, obok sceny), w godz. od 9.00 do 17.00, każdy uczestnik Zlotu otrzyma identyfikator uprawniający do udziału w wieczornym finale Zlotu i losowaniu cennych nagród.
Ugruntowaną pozycję w kalendarzu biegaczy ma Bieg Uliczny św. Jakuba, który jest bardzo widowiskowy, ponieważ trasa wiedzie uliczkami miasta. W ubiegłych latach ulicami Lęborka biegło po kilkuset zawodników. W tym roku Bieg odbędzie się 21 lipca po raz 18-ty. Biegacze z kraju i zagranicy pokonają atestowaną trasę 10 km wiodącą ulicami miasta.
Jak co roku, dużo będzie się działo na lęborskim deptaku – ulicy Staromiejskiej. Projekt pn. „Ożywiona Staromiejska”polega na wprowadzeniu na deptak miejski ulicznych muzyków, przebierańców, wystaw plastycznych, ulicznych spektakli teatralnych itp.
Kościelna wieża kościoła św. Jakuba Ap. jest co roku miejscem ciekawej ekspozycji. W tym roku na wystawie pt. „Zabytki kościoła św. Jakuba w Lęborku” prezentowane będą zabytki ruchome z tego najstarszego w mieście, gotyckiego kościoła.
W sobotni i niedzielny wieczór występują uznane gwiazdy. W tym roku wystąpią: WILKI (sobota) i Grzegorz Chyży (niedziela).
W programie Lęborskich Dni Jakubowych nie zabraknie elementów religijnych i duchowych związanych z postacią Patrona Lęborka – św. Jakuba Apostoła. Są to uroczysta suma odpustowa, nabożeństwo ekumeniczne, pielgrzymka rowerowa „Od Jakuba do Jakuba” do Łeby, poświęcenie pojazdów. Kolejny już rok oo. franciszkanie zapraszają najmłodszych na festyn odpustowy „Franciszkanie dzieciom”.
