Obiekt został oddany do użytku dopiero na początku 2010 roku. Budowa kosztowała 34 miliony złotych, z czego 19 mln stanowiło dofinansowanie z Ministerstwa Sportu. Inwestycję realizowały wspólnie: samorządy miasta i powiatu w Kościerzynie oraz Polski Związek Płetwonurkowania. Nie wiadomo jakich konkretnie nieprawidłowości dotyczy kontrola CBA. Postępowanie sprawdzające ma potrwać do końca lutego, choć jak nas poinformowano, może być przedłużone nawet do 6 miesięcy.
