Kaszubski Rajd na Orientację z Kompasem – 30-31 maja
30 i 31 maja odbędzie się VIII edycja Kaszubskiego Rajdu na Orientację z Kompasem. Tym razem odbędzie się on w gminie Choczewo.
W roku 490 p.n.e. dzielnych Greków najechały wojska perskie. Pod Maratonem doszło do bitwy, w której mimo znacznej liczebnej przewagi Persów górą byli Hellenowie. Radując się zwycięstwem wysłali oni swojego kuriera o imieniu Filipides do Aten- aby nowinę przekazać mieszkańcom metropolii. Jak głosi legenda posłaniec zmarł z wycieńczenia u wrót miasta. Baron Pierre de Coubertain- ojciec nowożytnego ruchu olimpijskiego i inicjator pierwszych w naszych czasach igrzysk olimpijskich- zaproponował włączenie do programu również biegu długodystansowego o nazwie „maraton”. W czasie pierwszych nowożytnych igrzysk trasa wiodła faktycznie z Maratonu do Aten (około 40 km)- podobnie jak trasa posłańca Filipidesa sprzed ponad dwóch tysięcy lat. Dzisiejsza długość maratonu została ustanowiona podczas igrzysk letnich rozgrywanych w roku 1908 w Londynie. Trasę poprowadzono pomiędzy zamkiem w Windsorze a stadionem White City. Dystans wydłużono, aby zawodnicy kończyli bieg na wprost loży królewskiej. Po dokonaniu obliczeń stwierdzono, że trasa ma długość 26 mil i 395 jardów, czyli 42 kilometry i 195 metrów. Na takim właśnie dystansie biega się dzisiejsze maratony i taki też dystans stał się wyznacznikiem dla tras Kaszubskiego Rajdu na Orientację „z Kompasem”.
Dla wszystkich Uczestników w trakcie trwania Rajdu czynny bufet z gorącym żurkiem, śledzikami „po kaszubsku”, herbatką z cytrynką, kawą a także ognisko z kiełbaskami.
