Historycznie niskie bezrobocie odnotowano w powiecie kościerskim.
– To najlepsze wyniki od 1990 roku – ocenia dyrektor Powiatowego Urzędu Pracy w Kościerzynie Mirosław Ginter.
Na koniec sierpnia wyniosło jedynie 6 i pół procent i było niższe niż stopa bezrobocia w kraju. Ze zmniejszającej się liczby bezrobotnych cieszą się również w innych powiatach kaszubskich. Najmniej osób bez pracy jest w powiecie kartuskim bo jedynie 3,9 procent, blisko 7 procent w powiatach puckim i wejherowskim i około 11 procent w bytowskim i chojnickim. Najwięcej ofert pracy w powiecie kościerskim dotyczy branży budowlanej i transportowej. W tych sektorach coraz częściej zatrudniani są też obcokrajowcy. Tylko w tym roku pracodawcy z powiatu kościerskiego złożyli w Urzędzie Wojewódzkim prawie 1 tysiąc 400 oświadczeń o zamiarze powierzenia pracy cudzoziemcom.
