Gimnazjum nr 1 będzie nosić imię ks. Bernarda Sychty
Gimnazjum nr 1 w Kościerzynie będzie czwartą szkołą na Pomorzu, której patronem zostanie wybitny kaszubski językoznawca ksiądz Bernard Sychta. Decyzję na wniosek dyrekcji szkoły jednogłośnie podjęli radni miasta.
– Decyzję o wyborze podjęli wspólnie uczniowie, rodzice i nauczyciele – mówi nam szefowa Biura Placówek Oświatowych w Kościerzynie Alicja Kirstein.
Pochodzący z Puzdrowa na Kaszubach ksiądz Sychta znany jest jako wszechstronnie wykształcony uczony i autor wielu publikacji. Dziełem jego życia był siedmiotomowy „Słownik gwar kaszubskich na tle kultury ludowej”, z którego do dzisiaj korzystają uczeni i językoznawcy. Imię księdza Sychty noszą szkoły w Puzdrowie, Świeciu i szkoła podstawowa nr 6 w Kościerzynie. W tym samym budynku od 16 lat działa też gimnazjum nr 1, które dotychczas nie miało patrona.
Gimnazjaliści w ramach przygotowań do nadania szkole imienia w maju odwiedzili Pelplin, gdzie złożyli kwiaty na grobie księdza Sychty. Brali udział w organizowanym przez gminę Sierakowice cyklu imprez pod nazwą „Liczą Kaszuby, żem je tak kochał”, lekcje o przyszłym patronie przeprowadziły też Danuta Pioch i bratanica księdza Stefania Sychta. Uroczystości nadania imienia księdza Bernarda Sychty gimnazjum nr 1 w Kościerzynie odbędą się w połowie października.
