– Przystanek, który ma wybudować PKM, otworzy mieszkańcom południowych dzielnic Gdyni dostęp do nowej linii kolejowej – pod warunkiem że będą mogli do niego łatwo dotrzeć autobusem, rowerem czy samochodem – wyjaśnia wiceprezydent Gdyni Michał Guć.
Gdynia i Sopot wspólnie zbudują Węzeł Karwiny na trasie Pomorskiej Kolei Metropolitalnej. Prezydenci obu miast podpisali porozumienie w tej sprawie. Dotyczy ona przygotowania dokumentacji i pozyskania dofinansowania na to kosztowne przedsięwzięcie. Do tego trzeba wybudować parkingi dla osób przesiadających się z samochodu do pociągu. Najprawdopodobniej trzeba będzie też przebudować wiadukt, a z pewnością trzeba doprowadzić do przystanku ruch rowerowy i kołowy. Koszt przygotowania Węzła Karwiny na trasie PKM szacuje się wstępnie na 80 mln złotych. W myśl zawartego porozumienia Gdynia i Sopot przygotują kompletną dokumentację i wspólnie pozyskają dofinansowanie z nowego unijnego rozdania na lata 2014-2020.
