Gdynia dba o zabytki w mieście
10,5 miliona złotych wydała jak dotąd Gdynia na dbanie o zabytki w mieście. Prace konserwatorskie są tam dotowane od 18 lat, ze wsparcia skorzystało już stu właścicieli zabytkowych obiektów.
Miasto co roku zabezpiecza na ten cel środki w swoim budżecie. Dotacje przyznawane są prywatnym właścicielom oraz instytucjom zarządzającym budynkami, które nie czerpią z tego tytułu zysków. Dotowane są także organizacje, których celem statutowym jest ochrona i opieka nad zabytkami. W Gdyni aż 67 obiektów jest wpisanych do rejestru zabytków województwa pomorskiego. Znajdują się w nim także obszary takie jak Orłowo, Kolibki, Mały Kack, Wielki Kack, Oksywie i przede wszystkim Śródmieście. W rejestrze są siedziby instytucji publicznych, wyższe uczelnie, kościoły, klasztory, obiekty przemysłowe, wojskowe i budynki mieszkalne.
