Dzisiaj ojciec narodu kaszubskiego obchodziłby swoje 201 urodziny. Florian Ceynowa przyszedł na świat 4 maja 1817 roku w Sławoszynie. Jest autorem pierwszej pisowni języka kaszubskiego, a także odezwy Kaszëbi do Pòlôchów, w której określił status Kaszubów jako odrębnego narodu, zgodnie z którym nie jesteśmy Polakami, ale łączy nas wspólny słowiański los.
– W swoim działaniu i podejściu wyprzedzał swoje czasy – twierdzi Mirosław Kuklik, dyrektor Muzeum Ziemi Puckiej im. Floriana Ceynowy.
Ceynowa pochowany jest w Przysiersku poza Kaszubami, ale na ojczystej ziemi są miejsca, które go upamiętniają. Na terenie, gdzie przypuszczalnie znajdował się dom rodzinny Ceynowy znajduje się tablica pamiątkowa, w Sławoszynie możemy ponadto odwiedzić salę jego imienia oraz dowiedzieć się o nim w miejscowej szkole. Od roku w Sianowie znajduje się poświęcony jemu kamień – upamiętniający jego aresztowanie przez pruskie władze po nieudanym powstaniu. Do idei Ceynowy obecnie w największym stopniu nawiązuje organizacja Kaszëbskô Jednota podobnie jak on głosząca odrębność narodową Kaszubów.
