Absolwenci etnofilologii kaszubskiej znajdą zatrudnienie w szkolnictwie jako nauczyciele lub specjaliści w kuratoriach oświaty, w różnego rodzaju instytucjach kultury: teatrach, regionalnych ośrodkach animacji życia społecznego, wydawnictwach, bibliotekach czy redakcjach czasopism. Studenci będą mieli do wyboru specjalność nauczycielską i animacyjno- medialną. W programie kształcenia będą przedmioty kulturoznawcze z polityką językową i etniczną Polski i Europy, historią i geografią Kaszub i Polski a także regionoznawstwem i ekonomią grupy mniejszościowej. Jak mówi dr Justyna Pomierska z Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego etnofilologia to kierunek międzyobszarowy, którym coraz częściej interesują się młodzi ludzie.
W rekrutacji na kierunek etnofilologia brane są pod uwagę punkty z matury z języka polskiego oraz języka obcego. Dodatkowo punktowana też jest matura z języka kaszubskiego oraz laureaci Dyktanda Kaszubskiego.
