106 lat temu urodził się Jan Trepczyk – autor hymnu narodowego Kaszubów
Dziś mija 106 rocznica urodzin Jana Trepczyka autora hymnu narodowego i jednego z najwybitniejszych poetów i działaczy kaszubskich. Jan Trepczyk urodził się 22 października w Stryszej Budzie koło Mirachowa. To autor kaszubskiego hymnu narodowego ”Zemia Rodno”, który usłyszeć możemy na antenie Radia Kaszëbë codziennie w południe i o północy. Był nie tylko poetą i pieśniarzem, ale i członkiem Zrzeszenia Regionalnego Kaszubów w Kartuzach, współzałożycielem Zrzeszenia Kaszubskiego. – Przyczynił się też do powstania Muzeum Piśmiennictwa i Muzyki Kaszubsko-Pomorskiej w Wejherowie – mówi jego obecny dyrektor Tomasz Fopke. W ostatnich latach życia przygotował wielki słownik polsko-kaszubski, zawierający w dwóch tomach około 60 tysięcy haseł. Wydany został dopiero pośmiertnie w roku 1994. Na swoje czasy był to słownik pionierski, zawierał wiele neologizmów, nauczyciele korzystają z niego do dziś – mówi członek Rady Języka Kaszubskiego i nauczyciel Karol Rhode. Jan Trepczyk zmarł 3 września 1989 roku w Wejherowie, tu został też pochowany. Jego imię nosi szkoła podstawowa w Miszewie, a także wejherowskie towarzystwo śpiewacze, kontynuujące tradycje zespołów założonych przez Trepczyka. Jego imię otrzymały także ulice w Wejherowie, Rumi i Bolszewie.
