Dworzec kolejowy w Wejherowie ma być wizytówką miasta i powiatu
Ma być odnowioną wizytówką Wejherowa, miejscem spotkań dla podróżnych i placówką kulturalną. Wejherowski dworzec kolejowy będzie zmodernizowany – list intencyjny w tej sprawie podpisali przedstawiciele spółki PKP z prezydentem miasta i starostą powiatowym.
– To będzie nowa wizytówka miasta i ziemi wejherowskiej – mówi prezydent Wejherowa, Krzysztof Hildebrandt.
Owocem prowadzonych od kilku miesięcy rozmów między przedstawicielami PKP a samorządowcami jest plan koncepcyjny zagospodarowania dworca. Zaplanowano kompleksowy remont elewacji i wnętrza. Nieużywane i zrujnowane obecnie piętro i poddasze budynku zyskają natomiast funkcje edukacyjno – kulturalne. Powstaną tam działy historii miasta i antropologii kultury kaszubskiej Muzeum Muzyki i Piśmiennictwa Kaszubsko-Pomorskiego, sala konferencyjna i tzw. „poczytalnia”, czyli biblioteka oferująca literaturę kaszubską.
Do końca bieżącego roku będą trwały prace nad projektem budowlanym, a z początkiem przyszłego roku ma być wbita pierwsza łopata. Cała inwestycja ma się zakończyć w 2017 roku, a jej szacunkowy koszt PKP przewiduje na kilkanaście milionów złotych.
