Zmniejszyła się liczba producentów truskawek na Kaszubach
Z ponad 200 do około 100 zmniejszyła się w ostatnich latach liczba producentów truskawek na Kaszubach. To efekt wymogów unijnych i braku chętnych do pracy. Dane statystyczne przygotowało Kaszubskiego Stowarzyszenia Producentów Truskawek z Kamienicy Szlacheckiej. Jeszcze 20 lat temu ogólna powierzchnia upraw truskawek na Kaszubach wynosiła ok. półtora tys. ha. Szacuje się, że dzisiaj jest to jedynie 1 tys. ha. O połowę też zmniejszyła się liczba plantatorów. Co jednak ciekawe – wzrosła średnia powierzchnia upraw tych owoców – z 1 do 3 hektarów. – To dowód, że kaszubscy rolnicy zaczynają się specjalizować w produkcji truskawki – mówi Prezes Spółdzielni Producentów Truskawek Kaszubskich Andrzej Klasa. Dodajmy, że uprawa truskawek jest bardzo pracochłonna, a w ostatnim czasie producenci mają problem ze znalezieniem chętnych do pracy. Od 2009 roku truskawka kaszubska czyli kaszëbskô malena jest zarejestrowanym produktem regionalnym w Unii Europejskiej.
