Za ochronę spokoju i porządku w Wejherowie – podziękowania odebrała tamtejsza Straż Miejska. Wręczono też awanse i nagrody.
Okazją był przypadający wczoraj ogólnopolski Dzień Strażnika Miejskiego. W Wejherowie Straż utworzono w 1991 roku jako jedną z pierwszych w całym kraju. Dwa lata później działała już całodobowo.
– Jako współzałożyciel tej jednostki nie wyobrażam sobie bezpiecznego miasta bez jej istnienia – mówi prezydent Wejherowa Krzysztof Hildebrandt.
Tylko w pierwszym półroczu tego roku Straż Miejska w Wejherowie podjęła ponad 12 tysięcy interwencji – z tego dużą część w nocy. Na zmianach pracuje w sumie 30 funkcjonariuszy. Straż Miejska w Wejherowie szczególnie znana jest z organizowania kursów samoobrony dla kobiet. Cieszą się one dużą popularnością, było już 9 edycji.
