Strażnicy Miejscy z Rumi uratowali życie kobiety dzięki defibrylatorowi zakupionemu w ramach budżetu obywatelskiego. To pierwszy taki przypadek, kiedy strażnikom z Rumi z sukcesem udało się wykorzystać sprzęt do przywracania czynności życiowych.
– Do zdarzenia doszło w ubiegłym tygodniu, relacjonuje Jarosław Mikołajczak, zastępca komendanta Straży Miejskiej w Rumi.
Patrol Straży Miejskiej dojechał na miejsce w ciągu minuty i rozpoczął reanimację nieprzytomnej. Po około kwadransie dotarło również pogotowie, które przez kolejny kwadrans kontynuowało reanimację. Czynności życiowe wróciły, kobieta została zabrana do szpitala, a strażnicy poinformowali jej bliskich o zdarzeniu. W takich sytuacjach należy zachować zimną krew, mówi młodszy strażnik Bartosz Mikołajczyk, który brał udział w tej akcji. W Straży Miejskiej w Rumi pracuje 9 strażników, którzy przeszli kurs pierwszej pomocy, a dziesiąty jest zawodowym ratownikiem medycznym. Dzięki głosom mieszkańców w budżecie obywatelskim w zeszłym roku zakupiono trzy defibrylatory AED, które zostały umieszczone w samochodach Straży Miejskiej.
