W Gdyni na Skwerze Kościuszki odsłonięto Pomnik Polski Morskiej
W Gdyni odsłonięto Pomnik Polski Morskiej. Uroczystość byłą kulminacją tegorocznego Święta Morza, trzech dni pełnych wydarzeń przypominających o historii i morskim charakterze miasta. Finałem jest zawsze święto Marynarki Wojennej, w tym roku dodatkowo obchodzącej swoje stulecie.
W uroczystościach wziął udział prezydent Andrzej Duda, podkreślił konieczność wyposażenia marynarzy w nowoczesne jednostki z nowoczesnym uzbrojeniem. Towarzyszący mu minister Obrony Narodowej Mariusz Błaszczak powtórzył deklarację swojego poprzednika o powrocie Dowództwa Marynarki Wojennej do Gdyni. – Odsłonięty wczoraj Pomnik Polski Morskiej to hołd dla pokoleń związanych z morzem – żołnierzy, żeglarzy, rybaków, stoczniowców, służb morskich i twórców opiewających morze – wyjaśniał Bogusław Witkowski, prezes Pomorskiego Związku Żeglarskiego – jednej z organizacji aktywnie zaangażowanych w budowę pomnika. Na Skwerze Kościuszki otoczenie monumentu ma być przekształcone w miejsce oficjalnych uroczystości, ale też spotkań i wypoczynku. Jesienią przybędzie zieleni i ławeczek, powstaną chodniki, iluminacja i monitoring.
